Advent: Season of Grace and Peace
The third verse of 2nd Peter, Chapter 1 states that God’s divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness: His promises, His forgiveness, and His grace. If we trust in God’s promises that He will bless us and be with us always, if we believe in the forgiveness He offers us through Jesus Christ, and if we are faithful in recognizing each grace-filled moment we encounter as a blessing from God, then we begin to understand the enormity of the gift of a baby in a manger that God offered the world.
Walk through these Advent days of waiting, this time of anticipation, and kneel in the straw at the foot of the manger. As our arms reach out to pick up this precious infant, we find ourselves wrapped in the warmth of God’s everlasting love and we find our hearts earnestly desiring to return that love and to become all that God wants us to be.
Through Jesus, God teaches us how to deepen our faith with goodness, and knowledge, and endurance, and through Jesus, we learn how to love one another as He has loved us.
Forgiveness came to earth one starry night and was laid in a manger so we might have the gift of salvation and everlasting life.
How Precious that Gift….How Awesome the Giver….How Blessed We Are!
Advent Prayer: In you, O God, we find our beginning and our end, and we find your gifts of grace and unending love in each of our days. May we accept these gifts with thanksgiving in our hearts and may we faithfully carry the message of the manger to a waiting world. Amen.
