Read Zephaniah 3:14-20
My father had a beautiful bass singing voice. During the depression, he and his brothers traveled around the area where he lived performing as a barbershop quartet. When we were children, it was a treat when he would sing for us. My dad died when I was 17 but my sister had recorded
him singing. Occasionally, we would listen to that recording just to feel closer to my dad for a few minutes.
Today’s Scripture from Zephaniah tells us that:
“The Lord your God is with you
the Mighty Warrior who serves.
He will take great delight in you,
In his love he will no longer rebuke you
He will rejoice over you with singing”
Imagine God singing! Think about what that would sound like. God sang over the Israelites and He continues to sing over his children today.
What things make God sing? Being a champion for those who are oppressed, feeding the hungry, providing for the weak and poor, daily prayer and worshiping with all your heat when we gather together on Sundays. These are some of the things that bring joy to the Lord. God
sings because He is pleased with you and because of his great love for you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, show us opportunities this week to glorify you through our words and actions. We long to fill you with such joy that it makes you sing. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen.
